Strengthening Adolescent-Friendly Health Services Across Kwara State Through Capacity Building
Adolescent Focal Persons from across Kwara State's 16 Local Government Areas participated in a five-day capacity-building training supported by UNFPA and facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Health's Gender, Adolescent, School Health and Elderly Care (GASHE) Unit. The training focused on strengthening the delivery of adolescent-friendly health services and promoting safe, confidential, and inclusive healthcare for young people.

In commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI), in partnership with UNFPA, UNICEF, and the Kwara State Government, reached 100 adolescent girls living with disabilities through an inclusive intervention focused on menstrual health, dignity, safety, and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights.

Adolescent Health Outreach at Otte Primary Health Centre
To mark International Adolescent Health Week, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI), in partnership with the Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, conducted an outreach at Otte Primary Health Centre. The session focused on physical and mental health, gender-based violence awareness, and basic financial literacy, while providing HPV vaccinations and routine health assessments for adolescents.
World Aids Day
The World AIDS Day 2025 program focused on raising awareness about HIV prevention, testing, and treatment while addressing stigma and misinformation. Through an HIV/AIDS awareness walk across Ilorin and a sensitization outreach at Kwara State Polytechnic, the initiative engaged community members and students with accurate information, encouraged open conversations, and provided free, confidential HIV testing to promote healthier and safer communities.
Menstrual Hygiene Awareness and Puberty Education
The OCDI CEO and Programs Manager visited a secondary school in Kwara State to sensitize girls on menstrual hygiene and puberty, marking an important step toward fostering a healthier and more informed future. Through interactive engagement, the team addressed stigma, dispelled common myths, and promoted best practices in menstrual hygiene management and puberty awareness, empowering girls with the knowledge and confidence to navigate this natural stage of life.
Capacity Building For Adolescent Girls and Young Women Community Testers
As a member of the National Youth Network on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NYNETHA), OCDI participated in a capacity-building training for Adolescent Girls and Young Women community testers in Kwara State. Organized by the Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), the training aimed to advance the UNAIDS 2030 targets—ensuring that 95% of people living with HIV know their status, 95% of those diagnosed receive sustained care, and 95% of those in care achieve viral suppression.
